Refined, smooth, and economical, Duratorq TDCi diesel engines feature common rail systems. They deliver a quieter and more efficient drive, thanks to a two-stage fuel injection process that ensures precisely the right amount of fuel is used.

 

And to give you extra acceleration for overtaking (especially in fourth or fifth gear), most Duratorq TDCi engines are equipped with an overboost function, which allows the engines temporarily to deliver around 10% more pulling power (torque).

 

A range of Duratorq TDCi diesel engines is also available with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF), which help reduce the levels of particulate matter released into the air, making them even cleaner.

 

For example, the 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi engine with DPF, powers our greenest family car Fiesta ECOnetic model, delivering an average fuel consumption of 76.3 mpg and a CO₂ emissions figure of just 98 g/km.
